Jansteel USA CEO on MicroStep: “Machines Built to Last”

First fiber laser with a carbon gantry powers Jansteel’s growth in the North American trucking market

“If you bought it, a truck brought it,” say American truckers—and the truth behind this phrase cannot be overstated. The U.S. trucking industry plays a critical role in sustaining everyday life. From retail stores and hospitals to gas stations, construction sites, waste management, and even water supply systems, nearly all sectors rely on trucks to transport essential goods. Before products reach shelves, their raw materials and production components are also moved by truck. As irreplaceable players in last-mile delivery and “just-in-time” logistics strategies, trucks—and the industries that support them—are foundational to modern supply chains.

One such supporting company is Jansteel, a manufacturer of high-quality intermodal chassis products. Their equipment is used by Intermodal Equipment Providers (IEPs), chassis pools, trucking companies, and other transportation organizations to carry shipping containers across state and national borders.

Founded in 2004 as a small, family-owned business in Israel with just one bending machine, Jansteel has since grown into one of Israel’s top producers of trailers and vehicle bodies. In 2020, the company expanded to the United States, establishing Jansteel USA Inc. in Miami with a clear mission: to manufacture innovative, durable, and efficient container chassis that help companies streamline logistics worldwide.

Jansteel partnered with United Precision Services, MicroStep’s exclusive North American distributor, to acquire the MSF Pro X 6001.25L, a powerful 6-kW fiber laser cutting machine equipped with a dynamic carbon gantry and a dual-pallet table for continuous production.

Today, Jansteel USA’s capabilities span metal cutting, welding, assembly, powder coating, and painting. One of their key strengths is maintaining full production independence from overseas parts. And the results speak for themselves: “Back home, we were manufacturing about 40 trailers a month. Here, we reach that number in just over two days,” says Moshe Jan, CEO of Jansteel USA.

To support this dramatic increase in output, Jansteel has continued to invest in its people, technology, and equipment. In 2024, the company chose to upgrade its production capabilities by integrating state-of-the-art fiber laser cutting technology. Although several options were evaluated, Jan says their prior experience with MicroStep played a central role in the decision.

Since 2010, MicroStep has supplied Jansteel with four different cutting machines, covering a wide range of technologies: laser, plasma, and oxyfuel cutting for plates, pipes, and profiles, along with drilling, tapping, and countersinking.
“We always had a great experience with both the brand and the company,” says Jan. “But above all, quality was the most important factor. We knew how these machines performed; we were comfortable with their operation and knew that they were built to last. All of this made our choice an easy one.”

The new fiber laser cutting machine positions Jansteel to take on larger, more complex projects while upholding its precision and reliability requirements.

To implement this upgrade, Jansteel partnered with United Precision Services (UPS)—MicroStep’s exclusive North American distributor. Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, UPS is a well-established company with over 20 years in the industry. They take pride in Ohio’s long-standing heritage of metalworking and the generations of skilled tradespeople that have shaped it. Their large, fully operational showroom—one of the biggest in the world—demonstrates the full range of machine tools they offer, creating parts and prototypes for manufacturers globally.

After careful evaluation and consultation, Jansteel and UPS selected a solution that would boost productivity while maintaining the company’s strict standards for quality and reliability: the MSF Pro X 6001.25L, a powerful 6-kW fiber laser cutting machine equipped with a dual-pallet table for continuous production.

The MSF Pro series is engineered for high-performance fiber laser cutting, and the “X” designates a key “extra”—a lightweight carbon fiber gantry. This feature enables superior speed, acceleration, and dynamic performance, resulting in faster production cycles, increased machine stiffness, reduced vibration, and extended durability.

The MSF Pro X series’ high-rigidity carbon gantry, combined with MicroStep’s latest-generation CyberFab Control motion system, achieves cutting speeds that fully leverage the fiber laser’s potential.

This installation marks MicroStep’s first delivery of a fiber laser cutting machine, as well as the first one with a carbon fiber gantry, in the United States. “One of the main requirements for the new cutting system was maximum productivity in nitrogen-based cutting of thin to medium materials,” explains Jakub Daučo, Head of Sales at MicroStep. “The MSF Pro X series, with its high-rigidity carbon gantry, is ideal for this. Combined with MicroStep’s latest-generation CyberFab Control motion system, the machine achieves cutting speeds that fully leverage the fiber laser’s potential—especially when cutting materials up to 15 mm thick. These advantages helped UPS make a compelling case for the MSF Pro X.”

United Precision Services managed the entire installation process in collaboration with MicroStep, ensuring that all specifications and performance targets were met. “For Jansteel, MicroStep’s flexibility and advanced technology align perfectly with their mission to deliver a wide range of high-quality, custom chassis and trailers.” says John Prevish, National Sales Manager at UPS. “This addition to their manufacturing floor positions them to take on larger, more complex projects while upholding the precision, reliability and craftsmanship their customers have come to expect.”

Jansteel’s intermodal chassis and trailers feature robust construction that ensures compliance with the toughest safety and environmental standards.

The collaboration between Jansteel, MicroStep, and United Precision Services has proven highly successful. Ongoing support and maintenance have ensured smooth, uninterrupted production. The new fiber laser system has allowed Jansteel to diversify its product offerings, strengthening its position in the highly competitive North American trucking market.

With cutting-edge technology from MicroStep and dependable support from UPS, Jansteel is well-equipped to continue its path of growth, innovation, and leadership in the chassis manufacturing sector.
