| When Xuancheng Valin decided to add a profile cutting machine to their portfolio, they went looking far and wide to find one able to meet their high standards. After a long research, the company found it in MicroStep, impressed by process reliability and consistently accurate cutting results. In 2016, the company invested in a ProfileCut machine for 3D processing of structural beams. The ProfileCut series is a versatile beam processing machine with a robust construction and a generous working area up to 8 m wide and 50 m long, able to process beams up to 1 m high. The Chinese company decided on a version for processing workpieces up to 900 mm in height and 24 m in length, equipped with a plasma rotator for bevel cutting, powered by a Hypertherm’s HPR260XD plasma source, and a laser scanner. Due to the construction of the endlessly rotating bevel unit, an inclination of up to 120° can be achieved, which enables extended weld seam preparation from almost any position. The accompanying ACTG unit ensures precise results in the long term by automatic real-time compensation of mechanical inaccuracies in the cutting head setting in all 3 axes simultaneously. In addition, the laser scanner scans every beam and profile before cutting, recording any deviation of the real workpiece from its digital model. By automatically compensating for them during the actual cutting, it brings a significant increase in the cut quality. |
