On March 11th and 12th 2015 at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, the
local round of the EBEC competition was held for Bachelor and Master degree students who want to prove they can link theoretical knowledge acquired at university with practice. One of the event's partners was our company,
MicroStep spol. s r. o.EBEC,
European BEST Engineering Competition, is a pan-European engineering competition organized by BEST for students of technical colleges and universities.
BEST,
Board of European Students of Technology, is a constantly growing non-profit and non-political organization that gives students from all over Europe the opportunity to communicate, collaborate and learn about other cultures.
The first category of the EBEC competition titled "Team Design" took place at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of SUT. Teams were given the task to construct a device according to the specification and out of assigned material. After several hours they presented their devices in front of an expert panel.
The next day, the category "Case Study" took place at the premises of the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies of SUT, where contestants addressed theoretical issues. The intention was to move the line of students' thinking and take them to a little unconventional track of exploration for new theoretical solutions to the given topic.
Each category has one winning team that will go to the
regional round of the competition in Prague in April. Winners of the Bratislava local round will compete there with winners from Kosice (Slovakia), Hungary and the Czech Republic. Winners from Prague will pass to the
EBEC Final that will be held in August this year in the second largest Portuguese city of
Porto.
